The Klezmatics at Klezmerwelten 2019
After their legendary concert at the Klezmerwelten 2012, you don't have to introduce the Klezmatics to anyone in Gelsenkirchen and the Ruhr area - but maybe there are still some who weren't there at the time.
If any Klezmer revival band deserves the title of "Superstars," then it's certainly the Klezmatics. What began in 1986 in New York's East Village is today a story against all odds, for preservation with constant renewal, always driven by new, creative ideas, sounds and concepts, crowned by concerts in more than 20 countries and a Grammy Award.
The Klezmatics have reinvented Yiddish music over and over again during this time, have made legendary recordings, and still sound like no other Klezmer band on this planet. Carried by the magical voice of Lorin Sklamberg and instrumentally ingenious musicians such as Frank London or Broadway star Lisa Gutkin, they have just recorded their new album Apikorsim, which brings them back to their roots - groovy Klezmer Music and Yiddish songs in a completely unorthodox style. They sing for a better world, praise Go,d and and always remain skeptical. This is the sound and concept of a band that has fascinated and captivated their audiences for more than 30 years.
Look forward to a concert at the Hans-Sachs-Haus - secure your tickets in time!
