Dear friends,
It’s a new year in the Jewish and school calendars (happy new year!) and I am so ready for the page turn. I don’t know what it was like for you, but for me the joys and sorrows of these past few years were so extreme - the most rewarding online teaching and music sharing, but sickness and death; an explosion of cooking, and home life, but an uninvited dormancy of my creative energy; inspiring community building throughout the world, but devastations in the news; new nieces and nephews, but the loss (to a corporate job) of my long time assistant (who you might remember as the producer of my online Wednesday night concert series.) So intense!
But, I’ve been working hard to come back to things and as it turns out that the little bits of writing that I did do are quite lovely. So suddenly (as if I haven’t been thinking about it for years) it is time to spill them into the studio with beautiful musicians and share the highs and the lows with you, my cherished audience.
The projects’ deepest inspiration comes from the song Klezmorimlekh Mayne Libinke (my beloved musicians) that Lorin Sklamberg sings so beautifully on Rise Up: Shteyt Oyf. I’ve always felt washed by a wave of gratitude when performing that song with The Klezmatics, and somehow it became allegorical for me when musicians from all over the world banded together online.
I’ll be sharing more about the recording soon, but in the meantime I want to profusely thank everyone for support through the years (none of my recordings would have happened without you!) and thank you in advance for anything you can do to help again!
Here’s a DONATE button for anyone who’d like to help provide project support and a comfy cushion to rest my weary head on while I bring my ideas to life. I deeply appreciate every dollar, and promise to spend each one wisely and kindly.
Yours sincerely,
Lisa
